The Birth Beacon was started by Brenna Turner to offer labor and postpartum care for families in Hickory, Statesville, Lenoir and the surrounding areas.

Her desire is to guide women through their pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum journey, so that they can have confidence in their choices and their ability to birth and nurture their baby or babies.

No matter the birth, circumstances or outcome, she wishes to stand by your side offering evidence- based, unbiased information, physical and emotional support. Support that could take such forms as comfort measures during labor, breastfeeding counseling, encouragement and assurance during pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period. As well as, helping the mom’s partner and family grow together as they adjust to their new life.

Meet the Doula

Brenna is a labor and Postpartum doula in Conover, NC. She is married to her high school sweetheart and they have two beautiful children, as well as two fur babies and four chickens. They live in the country together and are wannabe homesteaders.

Through the very different births of her own children and the loss of two babies, she learned the importance of being informed and supported during pregnancy and in the days postpartum. How these things not only affect birth, but also how it affects a mom’s view of her birth, herself and motherhood.

Brenna is a CAPPA Certified Labor Doula and a CAPPA Certified Postpartum Doula, as well as a Trained Hypnobabies® Hypno-Doula . She is First Aid and CPR certified and has additional training in the area of Lactation, Rebozo techniques, Spinning Babies and Bereavement. She is also a For Love of Baby doula. Which is a collective of doulas in the NC foothills area who have been trained and mentored by Laura Nance, who is a CAPPA instructor, senior adviser and has been serving families in this area for over 17 years.
