Why have the support of a labor doula?

Imagine having a professional support person walk through pregnancy and birth with you. Someone who knew the obstacles and challenges you might face and could help you be informed and prepared. Someone to talk with, who will listen and to help you have confidence in your pregnancy and birth. Someone who has taken the time to get to know you and your partner that will be by your side during the entire labor process. Someone reassuring you, encouraging you, helping you to labor as effectively as possible, focused on your comfort and the comfort of your partner. This is what a LABOR DOULA does.
